Indian films entering the Global Netflix charts are not a new event anymore. Thanks to Sooryavanshi for breaking the ice, we can see one or two of them every week.
Last week, Shyam Singha Roy occupied the third position and became the first Indian film to climb up so high. The record that was available was of only 2 days yet it remained strong.
Surprisingly, it is gaining viewership even in the second week. Shyam Singha Roy stepped down from only one position and still maintained a stronghold over the audience.
However, the Indonesian film Photocopier and the Polish drama How I Fell In Love With A Gangster were at number 2 and 1 respectively.
Surprisingly, both of them have fallen down to 7th and 6th position respectively.
Shyam Singha Roy is a fantastical romance film based on the concept of reincarnation. Nani and Sai Pallavi‘s performance was greatly applauded by people.
The most important thing in this movie was the portrayal of Nani and Sai Pallavi. Neither of them was picturised as something divine or superficial.
They seemed like surreal characters and ideologically driven personalities.
There was a sort of realism and Shyam Singha Roy was a typical Bengali rebel who worked for equality and justice.
Long story short, even though the concept of the film was based on reincarnation, it was not absurd. Probably that’s the reason people loved it so much.
