The curiosity factor and the buzz around the much talked about Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe is getting hotter by the day. Just a couple of days back, it was reported that ‘Brahmastra’ helmer Ayan Mukerji will be going behind the camera for the eagerly anticipated ‘War’ sequel – tentatively titled ‘War 2’. Then, yesterday, the project became even bigger after ‘RRR’ star Jr. NTR was cast in ‘War 2’ opposite Hrithik Roshan.
As per the latest update on YRF Spy Universe’s upcoming biggie ‘Tiger Vs Pathaan’ starring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead roles, ‘Pathaan’ helmer Siddharth Anand has been roped in to direct the big-ticket two-hero venture. Both these superstars will be reprising their roles from earlier films ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Pathaan’. Previously, the two actors had featured in Rakesh Roshan’s reincarnation action drama ‘Karan Arjun’ and later in the romantic drama movie ‘Hum Tumhare hain Sanam’ besides multiple cameos like ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, etc.
From a commercial point of view, roping in Siddharth Anand as the director of ‘Tiger Vs Pathaan’ makes good business sense as the young filmmaker has just delivered one of the highest grossing Indian movies of all time – ‘Pathaan’. But to handle such a massive, star-studded film like ‘Tiger Vs Pathaan’ will be no mean feat. Let’s see whether Aditya Chopra’s trust in Siddharth Anand’s directorial abilities pays off in a big way yet again.
Until now, four films have been released under the YRF spy verse and they have grossed over a whopping Rs.2400 crores at the box-office globally. These are ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and its sequel ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘War’, and the recent blockbuster ‘Pathaan’. And the fifth film of the franchise ‘Tiger 3’ starring Salman Khan is set to release on 10th November 2023.
