It was a great day for Indian web series and films at the Asian Academy Creative Awards, held last evening at Singapore. Six Indian shows/performers won awards at the prestigious Asia-centric event. The Awards recognise excellence in the film and television industry across 16 nations in the Asia-Pacific region.
We at Binged had informed our readers earlier about the nominations of a number of shows and performers at the awards. Though not all of them made it home with awards, we’re glad to inform our readers that Indian OTT did take home six awards for all!
Konkona Sen Sharma won the award for Best Actress In A Leading Role, for her seminal performance in ‘Geeli Pucchi’ from the ‘Ajeeb Daastaans’ anthology show. Amruta Subhash won the Best Actress In A Supporting Role, for ‘Bombay Begums’. ‘Pagglait’ took home two awards. Umesh Bist won the Best Screenplay Award for Pagglait. The film also won the award for Best Sound. ‘Mirzapur Season 2‘ won the big one. It took home the award for Best Original Program by a Streamer/OTT. Finally, MX Player’s ‘Cruising Legends: Dawn Patrol’ won the award for Best Branded Program or Series.
