Fans of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki starrer ‘Supernatural’ series may already be aware of the show’s eagerly anticipated spin-off prequel show ‘The Winchesters’ that was announced in June last year. As per the latest info, the show will also feature Tom Welling in a recurring and important role in the upcoming series. The actor is quite popular for essaying the role of the iconic character Clark Kent in the long-running superhero TV series ‘Smallville’, which spanned ten seasons and 200+ episodes.
The untold love story and the daredevil demon-hunting adventures of Dean and Sam Winchester’s parents John Winchester and Mary Campbell will be the new show The Winchester’s focal point. Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger have played the lead roles of Mary Campbell and John Winchester, respectively. Set in the 1970s period, ‘The Winchesters’ will narrate how the two lead characters meet each other, fall in love, and team-up to fight feared monsters while searching for their own fathers. The story will be told from the point of view of Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles).
In ‘The Winchesters’, Tom Welling has essayed the role of Mary’s father Samuel Campbell, a character which appeared in the parent series ‘Supernatural’. Besides his role in ‘Smallville’, Tom Welling has also starred in ‘Lucifer’ TV series, ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’, and ‘The Fog’, amongst other films and shows.
The ‘Supernatural’ prequel series ‘The Winchesters’ is set to premiere on the CW network in the US on 11th October. Episodes will air on a weekly basis.
