Netflix’s ‘Don’t Look Up’ has grabbed the attention of film buffs owing to its glittering cast and novel premise. The Netflix Original film stars the whole gamut of Hollywood A-listers, starting from Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, going on to Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Cate Blanchett, among others. Don’t Look Up dropped on Netflix this afternoon, India time. Indian viewers who managed to watch the film on Netflix today were pleasantly surprised to catch a glimpse of hot young Indian actor Ishaan Khatter in the film. The surprise was even greater because no one had any inkling that the fast-rising actor has a role in Don’t Look Up.
Ishaan Khatter has a mere ten second cameo in Don’t Look Up. But it is enough to warm the cockles of every Indian’s heart. It is a fun cameo that comes up out of nowhere in the film. His character is named Raghav Manavalan in Don’t Look Up. He appears in a scene where a bunch of people is talking about the impending disaster of a comet hitting earth. Ishaan Khatter tries to convince the people with him to “look up” and get savvy about the disaster about to hit earth.
For those who don’t know, Don’t Look Up is about a couple of low level astronomers, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, who have a tough task on hand. A comet is approaching Earth, with the potential to destroy the planet, and the two must launch a massive media blitz to warn the world about the impending danger. The response of the world at large is what brings all the laughs and rollicking comedy into the narrative.
The two find themselves in a hapless situation. Not even the President of the country (Meryl Streep) is prepared to believe the gravity of the situation. It is then obviously a monumental task to convince the common man about the disaster about to hit Earth.
‘Don’t Look Up’ is written and directed by Adam McKay, and is a dark satirical comedy. For the unversed, McKay is the creator of the 2018 movie ‘Vice’, which won eight Oscar nominations, and the 2016 movie ‘The Big Short’, which won the Oscar for adapted screenplay.
Don’t Look Up features a staggering cast, most of whom give a fleeting glimpse in the teaser. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Rob Morgan, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Timothée Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi, Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep are some of the names in the glittering cast.
