Sony Announces 17 Indian & Hollywood Film Releases for Next 12 Months

Sony Announces 17 Indian & Hollywood Film Releases for Next 12 Months

Eminent Indian studio Sony Pictures Films India (SPFI) has just announced that it is all set to release over 17 films in the next 12 months. The announcement also included the whole list of 17 Indian and Hollywood film titles that are slated to release within a year from now.

On the Indian movies front, the first film on the list is Taapsee Pannu’s upcoming ‘Looop Lapeta’. It is a remake of the German thriller ‘Run Lola Run’. The film also features Tahir Raj Bhasin and Shreya Dhanwanthary and is expected to release on 22nd October 2021.

The next Indian title on the list is the social comedy film ‘Tera Kya Hoga Lovely’ featuring Randeep Hooda and Ileana D’Cruz. The film was earlier titled ‘Unfair and Lovely’. The erstwhile title suggests that the film’s premise is based on people’s perception of beauty with fair skin.

Moreover, the eagerly anticipated biographical action film ‘Major’, based on the life of the 2008 Mumbai attacks martyr Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, is also mentioned in the list. And going by the undated timeline, it seems that ‘Major’ might have a release before ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ releases in December 2021. But the speculation is yet to be officially confirmed.

Other Indian films on Sony’s announcement slate include the action rom-com ‘Nikamma’, writer duo Sidharth-Garima’s directorial debut ‘Saale Aashiq’, and ‘OMG: Oh My God!’ director Umesh Shukla’s next venture ‘Aankh Micholi’. Moreover, the recently announced India’s first-of-its-kind underwater thriller movie titled ‘Dive’ backed by Ram Madhvani Films is also slated to release within a year as per Sony’s announcement.

As far as foreign titles are concerned, Sony’s list starts off with the already released horror-thriller film ‘Don’t Breathe 2’ followed by the upcoming Tom Hardy’s much-awaited Venom sequel titled ‘Venom: Let There be Carnage’ that’s slated to release in Indian theatres on 15th October 2021.

Then, the two other titles mentioned in Sony’s announcement are the psychological horror movie ‘Escape Room: Tournament of Champions’ and the survival horror Resident Evil reboot namely ‘Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’.

And the inclusion of Tom Holland starrer superhero movie ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ obviously does not come as a surprise as the Indian audiences are waiting with bated breath for its release on 17th December 2021.

Amongst the 17 announced film titles by Sony also include the supernatural comedy ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’, the action-comedy movie ‘The Man from Toronto’, Marvel’s Spiderman-universe based superhero movie ‘Morbius’, Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg starrer action-adventure film ‘Uncharted’, and the Brad Pitt starrer action thriller movie ‘Bullet Train’.
