Sony Pictures has dropped the official trailer of Harold and the Purple Crayon, starring Zachary Levi. The upcoming live-action film adaptation takes inspiration from Crockett Johnson’s classic 1955 children’s picture book of the same name.
Shazam fame Zachary Levi plays the titular character whose drawings become real. We can thank his magical purple crayon for this.
The trailer opens with Levi’s Harold drawing a picture of a door for the real world. As he passes through the door, he actually enters the real world along with his purple crayon. Soon, he discovers that his crayon also works in reality. We see Harold drawing unique creatures, a plane, and many more things in the latest clip.
According to Harold and the Purple Crayon’s synopsis, the protagonist’s magical crayon falls into the wrong hands. This forces Harold and his friends to use their creativity and imagination to protect the real world and his own.
Helmed by Carlos Saldanha, Harold and the Purple Crayon stars Zachary Levi, Zooey Deschanel, Lil Rey Howery, Jemaine Clement, Ravi Patel, Pete Gardner, Tanya Reynolds, and more. The film will arrive in theatres globally on August 2, 2024. Carlos Saldanha is best known for directing Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Rio (2011), Rio 2 (2014), and Ferdinand (2017). Stay tuned for more updates.
