Cooking reality show MasterChef is one of the most popular shows on the face of Earth. After debuting on the BBC in the UK in 1990, MasterChef has expanded to local franchises of the show in over 40 countries in the world. Countries as diverse as Croatia, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Ukraine, Australia and India, among 40 countries, have local adaptions of MasterChef running successfully for several years now.
MasterChef India is one of the most successful adaptations of MasterChef globally. It’s been running for eight seasons, and has given popular chefs to the country over the years. MasterChef India streams on Sony LIV in India. The platform has just debuted MasterChef India Season 8, which is already pulling in viewers in vast numbers.
Expanding their MasterChef footprint in the country, Sony LIV has just announced that it will soon release the Tamil and Telugu versions of the show on the platform. The new regional language adaptions will be called MasterChef India – Tamil and MasterChef India – Telugu.
Chef Koushik Shankar, Chef Shreeya Adka and Chef Rakesh Raghunathan will be the judges in MasterChef India – Tamil. Chef Sanjay Thumma, Chef Nikitha Umesh and Chef Chalapathi Rao will be the judges on MasterChef India – Telugu.
Tamil and Telugu versions of MasterChef India previously aired on Sun TV and Gemini TV respectively. But they were on only for a year, before disappearing altogether. Now, Sony LIV has taken it upon itself to popularise the Tamil and Telugu versions of MasterChef India in the country. The streaming platform will call for auditions from across the country soon.
