E Sreedharan transformed the Indian transport space when he spearheaded the construction of the Delhi Metro. He performed magic when he helped build the seemingly insurmountable task of building the Konkan railway line. His marvels of engineering made him famous as India’s ‘Metro Man’. E Sreedharan’s feats are a story that is waiting to be told on screen – big screen or small is irrelevant. And when it comes to telling stories rooted in India’s ethos, it is always SonyLIV at the forefront.
The homegrown streaming platform SonyLIV is developing a web series on Metro Man E Sreedharan, to be made in both Hindi and Malayalam languages. The Malayalam version of the series will be headlined by actor Jayasurya, with Mamta Mohandas as the female lead. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. The Malayalam version will be helmed by director VK Prakash (Nirnayakam, Police) and written by S. Suresh Babu (Shikkar). The news was first shared by online portal OTT Play.
Director VK Prakash had earlier envisioned as a Malayalam film, even announced the cast and title of the movie, but production failed to take off. SonyLIV then stepped in to convert the film into a series, but in Hindi. It was E Sreedharan who was keen on a Malayalam version of the series too. SonyLIV is yet to zero in on the cast and crew of the Hindi version of ‘Metro Man’.
SonyLIV hasn’t decided on a title for the Metro Man series yet. The series will tell the story of E Sreedharan’s life from the age of 30 to 85 and his myriad endeavours while employed with the Indian Railways and the Metro corporation.
