SonyLIV has been capitalizing on the popularity of Mollywood films and the OTT platform has been smart with its Malayalam “streaming acquisitions” so far. Most of these acquisitions have paid off, with films like ‘Kaanekkane’, ‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’ and ‘Madhuram’ receiving rave reviews from both critics and audiences alike. This time, however, the streaming platform has managed to acquire the streaming rights of the Malayalam anthology film, ‘Freedom Fight’, which is expected to release on the OTT platform soon.
The trailer for this upcoming anthology feature dropped on the official YouTube channel of SonyLIV. The trailer is quite vague and doesn’t offer much in terms of the plot. The movie will be split into five shower stories, all of them based on the theme of freedom and its importance. No release date has been provided yet for the film, but we expect the film to drop on the streaming platform within a few weeks.
Joe Baby, the director of the brilliant ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’, is one of the creative minds behind one of the stories of this film. Kunjila Mascillamani, Akhil Anilkumar, Jithin Issac Thomas and Francies Louis will be the directors joining Jeo Baby. The 5-part film will also feature a stellar cast including Rajisha Vijayan, Srinda, Kabani, Jeo Baby, Rohini, Joju George, Unni Lalu and Sidhartha Siba with others. Jo on Jacobs, Dijo Augustine, Sajin S Raj and Vishnu Rajan will be the producers behind this upcoming direct-to-OTT anthology release.
‘Freedom Fight’ will premiere on SonyLIV. As mentioned earlier, the trailer for this upcoming streamer dropped yesterday, on Republic Day. Check it out, below:
