February 2025 has come and gone, and SonyLIV’s lineup has left us wondering: did they deliver? There was a lot of buzz surrounding their new releases, especially Marco, and now it’s time to see if the reality lived up to the hype. Let’s take a closer look at what worked, what didn’t, and how SonyLIV fared last month.
Let’s start with Saale Aashiq, starring the likes of Tahir Raj Bhasin and Mithila Palkar. Other than their chemistry and individual performances, there isn’t much to like about this movie. Chunky Pandey’s performance turns out to be a surprise package, though. Visually, the movie looks good, but the second half needed to be tighter.
Bada Naam Karenge on SonyLIV was just another typical family drama from Rajshri Productions, focusing on the clichéd conflict between modern issues and old-school values. Still, credit goes to showrunner Sooraj Barjatya and director Palash Vaswani for proving that OTT content can also be family-friendly. Yes, some elements may seem clichéd and outdated, but the show has its heart in the right place. And that will work for many viewers.
The show is a neat, heartwarming, and family-friendly watch for viewers of all ages. Lead performers Ritik Ghanshani and Ayesha Kaduskar look great together, and their chemistry is brilliant.
As for Marco, well, it’s quite clear that the movie doesn’t have a particularly strong storyline, but its action sequences and violence will certainly blow your mind. Unni Mukundan’s performance gets the lion’s share of credit. He looks badass as the protagonist and has received plenty of praise for his performance in the movie. Marco is a must-watch for all action lovers.
Ending February 2025 for SonyLIV, we have one of the worst movies of Adam Sandler’s career, Pixels. The movie is a noisy, visually garish nostalgia trip that largely misses its mark. Sandler and his arcade-champion buddies battle pixelated aliens attacking Earth—a premise ripe for fun. However, the film descends into predictable Sandler-esque humor, relying on juvenile gags and tired stereotypes. Just save your time and don’t watch this.
Overall, February 2025 turned out to be a mixed bag for SonyLIV. While it benefited immensely from family entertainers like Bada Naam Karenge and action-packed films such as Marco, it also tainted itself with poor projects like Saale Aashiq and Pixels. Among these, there is only one SonyLIV Original, which is problematic, as the streamer needs to increase the number of original releases per month to boost its viewership.
