SonyLIV’s ‘Freedom At Midnight’ Trailer: A Tale Of Political Turmoils

SonyLIV has launched the trailer of its most anticipated upcoming series ‘Freedom At Midnight’ and there’s a whole lot of turmoil between politics and principals in this one. Helmed by Nikkhil Advani, ‘Freedom At Midnight’ will premiere only on SonyLIV on 15th November, 2024 in multiple languages.

The trailer begins with declaration of handing over the responsibility of the governance of India to it’s people by the then Prime Minister of the UK, Clement Atlee. What follows is one of the biggest struggles of Indian political history where a faction led by Jinnah is adamant to divide the nation while others under Gandhi ji are trying their best to prevent it.

The Britishers have long played the policy of divide and rule and it is becoming increasingly difficult to stop the polarisation of public. Even within Congress there are difference of opinions and principals on what strategy needs to be adapted to smoothly transition from being a colony to gaining independence after a long battle.

Amidst all this India is burning with division on the basis of religion and it’s the common public who are suffering the most as people in command remain indecisive. In the end it’s all going to depend on our great leaders of that time and how they take India to glory.

There are very high expectations from ‘Freedom At Midnight’ not only because it’s the highest budget series ever for SonyLIV but also because it deals with a very sensitive and relevant matter of our history. Such topics often stir up a lot conversations and controversies and how this series handles everything will be interesting to see.

Nikkhil Advani, the creator of ‘Rocket Boys’ serves as the showrunner of ‘Freedom At Midnight’ starring Chirag Vohra, Sidhant Gupta, Rajendra Chawla, Arif Zakari, Ira Dubey, Malishka, Rajesh Kumar, KC Shankar, Cordelia Bugeja, Richard Teverson, Luke McGibney, Andrew Cullum and Alistair Findlay

Based on a book by Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins ‘Freedom At Midnight’ is set in 1947, the year India got independence but also suffered from partition. The story is being adapted by a team of writers including Abhinandan Gupta, Adwitiya Kareng Das, Gundeep Kaur, Divya Nidhi Sharma, Revanta Sarabhai and Ethan Taylor.

‘Freedom At Midnight’ is being created by SonyLIV’s sister firm StudioNEXT in association with Emmay Entertainment’s Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani who are also serving as producers for the show. SonyLIV’s highest budget original drama series claimed till date ‘Freedom at Midnight’ will premiere only on SonyLIV ON 15th November, 2024 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and English.
