As ‘Rocket Boys‘ gears up for release on SonyLIV, buzz for the show is rising by the minute. The series recounts the enthralling time of the 1950s in Indian history. It was a time when Homi Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai, two stalwarts of Indian science, put a then fledging country’s scientific and atomic aspirations onto the fast track. Jim Sarbh is playing Homi J. Bhabha in Rocket Boys, while Ishwak Singh is portraying Vikram Sarabhai.
However, the one actor from Rocket Boys who has stunned all and sundry is none other than South siren Regina Cassandra. The winsome actress is essaying the role of Mrinalini Sarabhai in Rocket Boys. For those who don’t know, Mrinalini Sarabhai was the wife of Vikram Sarabhai, a famous danseuse, and a powerful personality in her own right. SonyLIV recently released a few images of the pretty lady as Mrinalini Sarabhai in Rocket Boys, and her look is stunning to say the least. Regina Cassandra is virtually unrecognizable as the mesmerizing Mrinalini Sarabhai.
Regina Cassandra brings the character to life with her poise and sophistication, reminiscent of the late dancer. Completing her look is Mrinalini Sarabhai’s big bindi, gajra, and understated jewelry that just emphasises the beauty and grace of the danseuse. Rocket Boys will mark the Hindi OTT debut of Regina Cassandra.
Regina has this to say about her look as Mrinalini Sarabhai, “As an actor, to get a chance to play such an iconic character on screen for my first ever Hindi OTT release is like a dream come true. But there is also a great responsibility when you’re portraying somebody who is an iconic figure like her. Dancers have a certain body language, and it was a challenge to get it right.”
She continues, “Mrinalini ji was a very dignified lady who was not prone to any dramatics, no matter what storm she was facing in her private life. So, it was important to portray her in that form. There was a lot of research and homework that went behind it. However, this is an opportunity of a lifetime, and I am thankful for it. My heart is full of gratitude.”
Besides Rocket Boys, Regina Cassandra has another prominent web series in her hand. She is playing an important role in Prime Video’s Raj & DK helmed web series with Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi.
SonyLIV’s Rocket Boys is created by Nikkhil Advani, Roy Kapur Films & Emmay Entertainment. It is directed by by Abhay Pannu and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, Nikkhil Advani. Rocket Boys will stream on SonyLIV in the first half of 2022.
