An ordinary pilot of a humble background who grows up to be the owner of an airline is an inspirational story anywhere. Air Deccan Founder GR Gopinath proved that could happen with passion, intelligence, and courage. He saw Soorarai Pottru, a film based on his story, and reacted on Twitter.
“Soorarai Pottru…Heavily fictionalized but outstanding in capturing the true essence of the story of my book. A real roller coaster. Yes watched it last night. Couldn’t help laughing and crying on many family scenes that brought memories,” is the initial response of Gopinath.
He appreciated Suriya for carrying off the role of an entrepreneur obsessed to the point of madness that makes dreams come true. He termed it as a timely and great uplifting story in these times of gloom (referring to the COVID-19 Turmoil).
He is in all praise for director Sudha Kongara and the way she portrayed the role of his wife in a male-centric story. “The portrayal of my wife Bhargavi by Aparna was very well etched out, of a woman who had her own mind, strong but soft, feisty and fearless and an inspiration to rural women especially who are equal and can be entrepreneurs in their own right (sic),” he wrote.
Soorarai Pottru (Aakasam Nee Haddura in Telugu) streaming on Amazon Prime Video is winning accolodes from the audience irrespective of the language.
