Netflix had acquired the acclaimed Spanish film ‘Society Of The Snow’ for worldwide streaming on its platform. The streaming giant revealed the first trailer for the upcoming Spanish movie, which is also Spain’s official entry for the Oscars 2024. ‘Society Of The Snow’ will release in select theaters in December, after which it will premiere on Netflix. 4th January 2024 is the ‘Society Of The Snow’ Netflix release date globally.
The film is set in the early 1970s. Based on stunning real life events, Netflix describes the real story behind ‘Society Of The Snow’ as one of the most remarkable stories of the 20th century. Back in 1972, a chartered Uruguayan plane crashed into the mountains in the heart of the Andes. The flight was carrying 45 passengers and crew, including 19 members of an amateur rugby team, and their families, supporters and friends.
Society Of The Snow documents the story of the survivors, their exceptional will-power that allowed them to survive 72 days in the extreme cold and freezing temperatures, and finally their rescue. The unbelievable story came to be known as the ‘Miracle Of The Andes’.
Society Of The Snow is directed by Juan Antonio Bayona. It is said to be the most authentic, true-to-the-sources version of the real story, unlike Ethan Hawke’s ‘Alive’, also on the same events. Society Of The Snow is adapted from Pablo Vierci’s book of the same name, which documents accounts of all 16 survivors of the crash. The cast is composed of Uruguayan and Argentine actors, most of whom are newcomers.
Spanish film ‘Society Of The Snow‘ premieres on Netflix worldwide on 4th January, 2024. Have a look at the trailer of the film –
