Fans of Special Ops, hold your horses! We’ve got an update that you might need to take with a pinch of salt. The release of the highly anticipated Season 2 of Kay Kay Menon’s popular espionage thriller series has been delayed by a week. It was originally slated for release on July 11, but the date has now been pushed to July 18.
While this update may disappoint a large section of the show’s fanbase, it could benefit another big forthcoming OTT title in terms of viewership: Aap Jaisa Koi, which is scheduled to arrive on July 11 on Netflix India.
Since its announcement, Aap Jaisa Koi has managed to maintain strong momentum on social media. With R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh leading the movie, OTT viewers are excited to see this duo pair up for the first time. The project is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment.
Both previous instalments of Special Ops, the debut season and the spinoff Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story, were massive successes in terms of viewership. Season 2 is also expected to set new streaming records. By delaying its release to July 18, Special Ops clears the path for Aap Jaisa Koi to capture a larger share of the OTT audience during its premiere week.
This gives Aap Jaisa Koi a full week to build buzz, gain initial viewership, and climb the streaming charts on Netflix India, all without having to immediately contend with a major competitor. With an unobstructed first week, the upcoming R. Madhavan starrer has a better chance to generate positive word of mouth, strong reviews, and social media traction.
Aap Jaisa Koi now has a clear runway for its debut. Let’s see how it performs in its opening week. Stay tuned for more updates.
