The man behind the creation and direction of Netflix’s Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has revealed some interesting details about his upcoming movie project. He disclosed that his next film will be more violent and controversial than Squid Game.
According to Variety, Hwang is busy working on a movie called Killing Old People Club. The helmer’s forthcoming project takes inspiration from a novel penned by Umberto Eco, a prominent Italian author.
Apart from being more intense than Squid Game, Hwang also revealed that he might have no other alternative but to hide from aged people after the dispatch of the movie.
It is not like Hwang is solely focusing on Killing Old People Club. The acclaimed Korean director is also busy in the production work of Squid Game Season 2. However, the show’s fans may have to wait a bit longer than expected as the director is optimistic about the arrival of the sophomore instalment in the second half of 2024. But he is yet to announce the exact release window for Season 2.
The show’s plot revolves around Seong and the rest of the contestants who participate in a series of dangerous games to get rid of their gigantic debts. All participants have to don green tracksuits and are kept under surveillance for 24 hours. On the other hand, guards wear pink tracksuits with black masks to “maintain” discipline during the games. Losing a game results in a player’s death.
Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Squid Game Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix.
