Squid Game actor Lee Jung-jae has promised that Season 2 will be more interesting than Season 1. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed the sophomore entry in December last year. The debut season culminated with Gi-hun (Jung-jae) winning the competition. However, he decides to stay in Seoul to expose the secret organisation responsible for organising the deadly games which took hundreds of lives.
In a recent interview with Radio Times, star Lee Jung-jae teased how Season 2 would be more intriguing than the first season. This is what he said below:
“I think the script for Season 2 is even more interesting than Season 1, and there is going to be a new set of characters as well. So I think the audience is going to be really excited about it. One thing I felt while reading the script is that there is an even deeper emotion that’s discovered within Season 2, and also I think the audience will feel like, ‘Where is this story going?’, because there’s so many twists and turns that happen.”
There is no denying that Gi-hun will seek vengeance from the orchestrators of the deadly games in Season 2. He looks determined to thwart the mysterious organisation once and for all.
Season 2 will also feature plenty of new talents. Among those newcomers are Kang Ha-neul, Yim Si-wan, Yang Dong-geun, Park Sung-hoon, and Park Gyu-young. Their addition to the show teases new dynamics and more dangerous set of challenges. Netflix is yet to reveal plot details for the upcoming season.
Lee Jung-jae will reprise his character of Seong Gi-hun in Squid Game Season 2. Other than the leading man, talents like Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-joon, and Gong Yoo will return in the next season as well. According to several online reports, Season 2 may arrive on Netflix in late 2024. Meanwhile, you guys can watch Jung-jae playing Jedi Master Sol in ‘The Acolyte’ Star Wars Disney+ series. Stay tuned for more updates.
