After premiering in September last year ‘Squid Game’ became Netflix’s most popular series of all time, with over 1.65 billion view hours in the first 28 days. And now inspired by the show Netflix is launching the biggest reality competition series ever, ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’. This comes a couple days after Netflix announced the renewal of ‘Squid Game’ for season two.
As per Netflix, ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ will have the largest cast and lump sum cash prize in reality TV history. Similar to the show, the game will have 456 real players who will compete for a life-changing reward of $4.56 million.
In addition to a series of games inspired by the original show, the 10-episode competition series ‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ will also have some new surprising additions. Contestants will have to build strategies, form alliances and much more to save themselves from eliminations.
Netflix has also opened the recruitment for the show and those willing can visit SquidGameCasting.com. English-language speakers from any part of the world can apply.
‘Squid Game: The Challenge’ is a co-production between Studio Lambert (‘The Circle’) and The Garden (‘24 Hours in A&E’), part of ITV Studios, and it will be filmed in the UK. Stephen Lambert, Tim Harcourt, and Toni Ireland from Studio Lambert and John Hay, Nicola Hill, and Nicola Brown from The Garden will serve as executive producers.
