SS Rajamouli‘s Multistarer film – RRR has locked the biggest deal in the history of Digital and Satellite Rights of Indian Cinema. Leading corporate group, Zee Group has bagged the all-language post-release digital and satellite rights for a sensational 325 Crore. The presence of Bollywood stars like Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt makes the film’s digital and satellite rights rosy.
Previously, Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios bagged the right and now transferred them to the Zee group. Meanwhile, the fans of NTR and Ram Charan are disappointed a bit with this deal. While the commerce will make the makers smile, the reach of Zee5 (Zee Group’s digital arm) has been very limited in the South. They are hoping that Amazon Prime Video would have got the deal.
The finer details of the deal are yet to emerge. Previously, RRR team mentioned that these rights were sold to Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios. He sold the rights to Zee Group and now, it is a third party deal. It would be interesting to see how much profit Pen Studios made just with the change of hands.
The movie was announced for the October 13th release. While there are speculations of a postponement, the makers have mentioned that they are on track for an October release. Rajamouli weaved a fictitious story based on two Legendary Telugu Freedom Fighters – Alluri Seetha Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem. In RRR, he will narrate what happens when they meet in Delhi prior to their respective struggles. Ram Charan will play Alluri while NTR will play the Telangana Warrior.
