Venerated director SS Rajamouli, known for his grandeur and majestic vision in movies like RRR and Baahubali, was seen recently stating his views on the romantic comedy genre of movies, saying that he wasn’t the biggest fan of them. However, Mollywood came up with a compelling case to change his mind, in the form of the latest smash hit movie, Premalu. Starring Naslen Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju along with a cohort of strong supporting actors, the movie has taken viewers by storm and is performing phenomenally at the box office.
Having released on 9th February, 2024 to the malayalam audience, it caught the eye of SS Karthikeya, son of Rajamouli, who went and acquired the Telugu dubbing rights for the film. Rajamouli had also attended a celebratory event in Hyderabad to bless the film’s success. During it, he had mentioned quite blatantly and with genuine candour, that Malayalam cinema clearly brings out better actors and directors, and that it does make him jealous to come to terms with that. He lauded the cast’s dynamic performance in Premalu, seeing the potential of growth in budding stars like Naslen and Mamitha. His favourite character in the movie was Shyam Mohan’s Aadi, the vengeful IT professional.
Veteran actor Mahesh Babu also took to social media to praise Premalu, saying that it was a great, hilarious experience and that the team did a fantastic job overall. Lately, Mollywood has been gaining the attention of the big shots of the film Industry, with Anurag Kashyap lauding movies such as Bramayugam and Manjummel Boys. These should be reason enough for you to binge these movies as soon as possible!
