Yesterday, a report regarding the OTT rights of Star was floating on the web. It stated that the rights are sold to Prime Video but in a hybrid model. So, what exactly is a hybrid model?
It is a combination of SVOD and VOD. What does it mean? When a film opts for a hybrid model then it is set to arrive on both rent and regular streaming methods. Consider the case of Maidaan. The Ajay Devgn starrer was available to rent on Prime Video a few weeks back, but now it is streaming regularly. So, this is a hybrid model.
“Star,” tells the inspiring story of Kalai, a young man chasing his big dream of becoming an actor. While he comes from a middle-class family, his father, Pandian, a still photographer, wholeheartedly supports his ambition.
The film, directed by Elan, explores the struggles and challenges Kalai faces on his journey. He goes through many obstacles, but his dedication and determination to make it in the film industry are unwavering.
“Star” features a talented cast including Kavin as Kalai, Lal as his supportive father Pandian, Aaditi Pohankar as Surabi (Kalai’s wife), and Preity Mukhudhan as Meera Malarkodi.
It was released on the big screens on the 10th of May and achieved an average feat of 20 crores at the Box Office.
It is now streaming on Prime Video. In case you missed watching it on the big screens then you would have to pay ₹279 to rent it. We recommend you wait for two to three weeks before the movie starts to stream regularly on the platform so that you don’t end up paying more.
