Empire Magazine has unveiled a new look of Kelnacca from the upcoming Disney+ series, Star Wars: The Acolyte. Kelnacca is also a Wookiee, like Chewbacca, but only by his physical appearance. The former’s inclusion into the series has made many fans curious about the character, as they do not know much about him. The character was created especially for the show.
We all love Chewbacca! Why shouldn’t we? Apart from being the most popular Wookiee in the Star Wars franchise, he is also a loyal friend, a skilled pilot, and a dedicated Rebel. However, he is prone to anger and shows frustration through his guttural growls. And he is so not a Jedi material.

On the other hand, we have Kelnacca, a well-trained Jedi Master and less impulsive fuzzball than Chewbacca. According to Joonas Suotamo (who played the character in The Acolyte), Kelnacca is good at controlling his emotions, unlike Chewbacca, who never shies from throwing tantrums whenever he loses his calm.
Kelnacca certainly looks wiser and more disciplined than Chewbacca. He will bring out a very different side of the Wookiees in The Acolyte. It is indeed a significant change from Lucasfilm as they have always treated the Wookiees as fun and entertaining characters.
We do not know much about Jedi Master Kelnacca except that he lived in 132 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) during the High Republic Era. We will know more about the character after The Acolyte’s premiere on the Disney+ streaming platform on June 4, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
