Disney and Lucasfilm are planning to re-release Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace in theatres to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary. The Phantom Menace is considered one of the most polarising films in the Star Wars franchise. However, its reception among the fans has become more positive in recent years, largely due to how horrible the Sequel Trilogy turned out. The failure of the Sequel Trilogy has made many fans realise the Prequel Trilogy’s importance.
The Phantom Menace will arrive again in theatres on May 3, 2024. It starred Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd, Anthony Daniels, Ian McDiarmid, Kenny Baker, Frank Oz, and more.

Episode 1 enabled George Lucas to explore Anakin Skywalker’s journey as a brave Jedi knight and his fall after accepting the Dark Side of the Force. 20th Century Fox handled the film’s distribution during its first theatrical release.
Made on a substantial budget of $115 million, The Phantom Menace minted over $924 million globally during its first theatrical run, paving the way for the development of Episode 2: Attack of the Clones (2002) and Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith (2005). Lucasfilm released the film’s 3D version in 2012, which collected $102 million, taking the film’s overall collection to $1.027 billion.
Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace is also available on Disney+ Hotstar. Stay tuned for more updates.
