Stefon Bristol, who made his directorial début with ‘See You Yesterday’ on Netflix, is once again teaming up with the global streaming giant for his next project titled ‘Gordon Hemingway & The Realm of Cthulhu’.
The film will be produced by Spike Lee (‘Da 5 Bloods’) , who had produced Bristol’s first Netflix film ‘See You Yesterday’ too; Lloyd Levin (‘Da 5 Bloods’, ‘Watchmen’) and Beatriz Levin (‘Da 5 Bloods’, ‘The Mauritanian’).
The original screenplay for Netflix feature film ‘Gordon Hemingway & The Realm of Cthulhu’ has been written by Hank Woon with additional revisions by both Woon and Fredrica Bailey. Lloyd Levin and Beatriz Levin initially optioned the spec screenplay from Woon and brought the film to Bristol and Lee.
As per Netflix, the film’s official logline reads, “Set in East Africa, 1928, the roguish Black American gunslinger GORDON HEMINGWAY teams up with the elite warrior PRINCESS ZENEBÉ of Ethiopia to rescue their kidnapped regent from an ancient evil.”
‘Gordon Hemingway & The Realm of Cthulhu’ will be co-produced by Oliver Oftedal and Tom Olsson for Goodbye Kansas’ production arm Infinite Entertainment. Goodbye Kansas, an award-winning visual effects company will lead the visual effects on the film.
Bristol’s previous credit includes ‘See You Yesterday’ which had premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released globally on Netflix in 2019. The socially-conscious, time-travel adventure movie niy only received great public reviews but also went on to win Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay.
