Comic legend Steve Martin has expressed his desire to quit acting after Hulu’s Only Murders In The Building. Globally prominent for his offbeat and absurdist humour, the comic actor has appeared in numerous movies and tv shows. But don’t get ready to say goodbye to him yet. The makers have renewed the show for a third season. So, we can expect him to see in the next OMITB instalment.
This is what Martin said about his live show in his recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “We were very happy just doing the live show. There may be a natural end to that — somebody gets sick, somebody just wears out — but I wouldn’t do it without Marty. When this television show is done, I’m not going to seek others. I’m not going to seek other movies. I don’t want to do cameos. This is, weirdly, it.”
Martin’s statement clarifies that the comic actor has no interest in appearing in other projects except Only Murders In The Building. He also serves as the show’s creator along with John Hoffman. It is up to the creating duo how many seasons of the mystery-comedy series they want to bestow to the fans.
No doubt that the comic actor has put his heart and soul into OMITB. His character of Norm Oglesby in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk (2016), helmed by Ang Lee, was his last role in a feature-length film. And his last television appearance came in the 2016 NBC variety show, Maya & Marty, co-hosted by Maya Rudolph and his OMITB partner-in-crime, Martin Short.
The remaining episodes of Only Murders In The Building will arrive on Tuesdays on Hulu. Indian viewers can stream the show on Disney+ Hotstar. It stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Cara Delevingne, and many more. Stay tuned for more updates.
