David Harbour, who shot to international fame after starring in the widely acclaimed Netflix supernatural series ‘Stranger Things’, has reportedly been roped in for a film titled ‘Violent Night’ for Universal.
‘Violent Night’ is being touted as a dark thriller ostensibly set against the Christmas holiday backdrop. The film is being helmed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola, whose earlier directorial credits include ‘Dead Snow’ films, the fantasy-horror movie ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, and the more recent action-comedy horror flick ‘The Trip’.
The script for ‘Violent Night’ has been penned by the writer duo Pat Casey and Josh Miller, who were also behind the box office blockbuster film ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’. ‘Violent Night’ is being backed by 87North productions, which is behind some explosive, high-profile films such as ‘John Wick’ movies, ‘Atomic Blonde’, ‘Nobody’, and ‘Kate’, amongst others. So, as you can observe, the production house is not at all new to the action-thriller genre.
David Harbour was recently seen essaying the role of the Russian super-soldier Red Guardian in the blockbuster MCU action movie ‘Black Widow’ alongside Scarlett Johansson and Rachel Weisz. Besides, the 46-year-old actor was also a part of Steven Soderbergh’s critically acclaimed multi-starrer period crime thriller ‘No Sudden Move’ co-starring Don Cheadle, Benicio del Toro, Jon Hamm, Brendan Fraser, and Ray Liotta amongst others.
The dark holiday thriller ‘Violent Night’ starring David Harbour is expected to release around a year later, on 2nd December 2022. The film’s precise plot and other cast member details are not yet confirmed. Stay tuned to Binged for further updates on ‘Violent Night’.
