SonyLIV is coming up with Dr. Arora very soon on July 22nd. The series is based on a sexologist named Dr. Vishesh Arora who also tries to change the perception of people on sexual problems.
It is indeed a taboo that needs to be addressed but sadly there are not many web series that we could quote from the same genre. Thus we have brought you 5 Hindi films based on sexual problems which you must visit.
1. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan- Jio Cinema/Prime Video/Zee5
Ayushmaann Khurrana is one of the foremost actors to take up any challenging role. His film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is just one of those projects. It is based on a man who suffers from erectile dysfunction. Due to this, his potential wedding and personal life suffer. But thankfully, the ending is pretty satisfying and it preaches an important note.
2. Vicky Donor- Jio Cinema/Prime Video
Again a film by Ayushmaann Khurrana, he plays the role of a sperm donor. Needless to say, a considerable number of people can’t have children due to a lack of sperm quality. But this simple thing is so stigmatized that it is often equated with manhood and the attached stereotypes. Thankfully, the highly entertaining film did a tremendous job of easing the taboo around.
3. Lust Stories- Netflix
This is a Netflix anthology film having four stories and directors in it. Thus, it addresses 4 different taboos related to sex. It is a must-watch film that has an ensemble cast of Radhika Apte, Bhoomi Pednekar, Manisha Koirala, Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal, Sanjay Kapoor, and more.
4. Janhit Mein Jaari- Zee5
A few people have enough guts to purchase condoms as normally as anything else. A tool as essential as a condom is projected as a despicable thing. This Nushrratt Bharuccha film raises questions on the same issue.
5. Parched- Prime Video
This film is bold, unapologetic, controversial, and still justifies everything with the content and execution. The film is based on three women who explore not only their sexuality but life in the most interesting manner possible. There are a few hard-hitting films but sadly, they are not far from reality. Thus with these examples, we still hope that Dr. Arora creates a separate impression on us.
