It has been a good time for both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video who’ve been going neck to neck with their acquisition of the latest movies in the tinsel town and the honours have been mostly shared. This week too, there are a couple of unconventional films that are hitting on both the platforms, much to the viewer’s delight.
If there’s any Hindi film in the year that doesn’t need any introduction, it has got to be Kabir Singh. A remake of the surprise Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy, the film overcame harsh reviews to emerge Bollywood’s biggest success story in 2019. The presentation of the story is much more sophisticated in the remake, with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani coming up with memorable performances to create a sweeping impact. (Watch it on Netflix)
Another out-of-the-box Telugu film to have landed in the theatres earlier this year was Kobbari Matta, featuring Hrudaya Kaleyam actor Sampoornesh Babu in a triple role. The film about a village head Rayudu, his three wives, brothers and a son is as wacky as it can get, with over-the-top humour, parodying every notable cliche that has ever existed in Telugu film industry. (Watch it on Amazon Prime Video) This week, streaming gets quirkier and you wouldn’t want to miss it.
