Talented young hero, Sundeep Kishan‘s A1 Express released before the second wave and disappointed the actor. He has also completed the shooting of another film, Gully Rowdy. When the movie was about to release, the COVID second wave has happened. It is now revealed that the makers are contemplating skipping their theatrical release and have a Direct-to-OTT release for the film.
The makers are in talks with a couple of streaming companies. We will know the update in a week or so. G Nagehswara Reddy who is known for his hilarious comedy entertainers is directing the film. Neha Shetty is playing the heroine. Kona Venkat is presenting the movie.
Interestingly, Kona Venkat’s other presented film, Nishabdham starring Anushka Shetty also opted for the direct-digital premiere on Amazon Prime Video the last year during the COVID first wave.
It is interesting to note that a few filmmakers are finalizing their online release deals at the time when theaters are opening in both the Telugu states. Besides Gully Rowdy, we have been hearing about films like Narappa, Drushyam 2, Virata Parvam, Maestro, Paagal, etc taking the digital route. We may hear the official announcements one after the other in the coming days.
