Super Smash Bros., a game remembered by generations, now faces the possibility of diving deep into the trend of video game adaptation.
Illumination Studios is reportedly exploring the creation of a cinematic experience that mirrors the excitement of the Avengers. They will share this universe with Nintendo, as the latter will engage in making certain spin-offs.
In a similar context, The Legend of Zelda is under works, but it won’t be a part of this universe.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a 2018 Nintendo Switch release and the fifth in its series, was developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Sora Ltd. Players engage in traditional fighting conventions, controlling diverse characters to defeat opponents in various modes.
The game includes a single-player campaign and multiplayer versus modes, showcasing 89 playable fighters from Nintendo and third-party franchises.
Although Nintendo hasn’t announced a Super Mario Bros 2 film, it is speculated to be under works. The first installment of the franchise crossed the $1 billion dollar mark, establishing a strong foundation for the future of video game adaptations. If they manage to work on a Super Smash Bros film, it is destined to be a blockbuster.
There, characters like Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, and certain other Pokémon will get the opportunity to share the screen, as fans expect that the stats align for this film.
