If you love stories about people who love making stories, Superboys of Malegaon is a film you shouldn’t miss. Directed by Reema Kagti and written by Varun Grover, this heartwarming coming-of-age drama will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting April 25.
Inspired by the 2008 documentary Supermen of Malegaon, the film follows Nasir, a wedding videographer from the small town of Malegaon, Maharashtra. Played beautifully by Adarsh Gourav, Nasir gathers his group of friends to make a film of their own, not for fame, not for money, but for the love of cinema and their hometown.
The beauty of Superboys of Malegaon lies in its simplicity. It doesn’t try too hard. It’s honest, funny, and full of heart. The characters feel like people we all know, dreamers with day jobs, trying to squeeze creativity into the cracks of everyday life. And that’s what makes this film special.
If you care about films or just want to watch something that makes you smile, Superboys of Malegaon is worth your time. The movie has come to us after a lot of film festivals. It did not get a warm response on the big screens, and then people wonder why good films are not made in Bollywood. Anyway, the movie will finally get some attention on OTT.
It is set to be released on Prime Video on 25th of April. Let’s see what kind of reception it gets.
