We advise you all not to keep your hopes up about a new Supernatural revival series. The original CW show (which ran for 15 seasons) culminated in November 2020. Since then, fans have been strongly demanding Season 16 or some kind of spin-off to the original series. A spin-off, titled The Winchesters, did come out of The CW’s arsenal in October 2022, but ran for only one season. The spin-off project was set in the 1970s and revolved around the story of John Winchester and Mary Campbell, parents of Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki). Ackles also served as the spinoff’s narrator.
In a recent interview with TVLine, The CW’s president of entertainment, Brad Schwartz, talked in detail about the possibility of Supernatural Season 16 or a new spinoff based on the original series. However, his reply was not satisfactory as he disclosed that he did not have any formal talks about reviving the original series. Although, he did acknowledge the show’s growing popularity.
“We’ve had no discussions about any kind of spinoff,” Schwartz said. “Supernatural was one of the Top 10 most-streamed shows last year. And it’s an incredible franchise with an incredible legacy and incredible history. We’re really excited about the new season of Walker with Jared.”
Based on the above statement, it seems like we may have to wait for a long time to get a Supernatural revival project on our screens.
Supernatural ran for 15 seasons and offered a total of 327 episodes to the fans. It revolves around the brotherly duo of Dean and Sam Winchester, who travel across the country to discover and slaughter evil supernatural creatures. You can stream the show on Prime Video. Stay tuned for more updates.
