Amazon Prime Video has dropped the teaser for Suriya’s upcoming Tamil film ’Jai Bhim’ and its intensity is just next level. Based on real incident and helmed by Tha. Se. Gnanavel, ‘Jai Bhim’ will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video this Diwali on 2nd November, 2021.
The teaser begins with Chandru (Suriya), a lawyer by profession, asking Senggeni, a woman from Irular community, to describe everything as it is and neither understate nor exaggerate any part of it. He needs this statement to file a petition in the court to get justice for her.
But given the socially unjust society we live in, many speculate that the petition has been filed for publicity since the woman belongs to a scheduled tribe. The teaser then takes us into flashback where some policemen are seen troubling, beating and then arresting the man of a poor family while his wife cries for help. It later turns out that the man has gone missing and his family is left helpless.
Chandru takes upon himself to file a case without evidence against three cops but it isn’t just that, it’s a case against the government and that makes it more so important. The teaser shows how deep the caste discrimination has crept into people’s mind and society that they look down upon Chandru for bringing a tribal woman into the high court even though she is very much a citizen of this country and should be able to enjoy every right as one.
Chandru, who believes that caste shouldn’t be the basis to decide if someone’s a criminal or not, is determined to fight for Senggeni’s justice as he believes it’s her right and she deserves it more for all the injustice she has suffered due to her caste throughout her life.
‘Jai Bhim’ teaser is as intriguing, gritty and hard-hitting as it gets and every actor seems to be deeply immersed in their character that reflects powerfully on screen. The theme and message of the court room drama also comes across firmly and clearly.
Written and directed by Tha. Se. Gnanavel, ‘Jai Bhim’ stars Suriya, Prakash Raj, Ramesh, Rajisha Vijayan, Manikandan and Lijo mol Jose in prominent roles. The film has been produced by Jyotika and Suriya and co-produced by Rajsekar Karpoorsundarapandian.
‘Jai Bhim’ will premiere only on Amazon Prime Video on 2nd November, 2021.
