Early last month, Kollywood star Suriya took to social media to announce his new project, titled ‘Viruman’, starring his brother, actor Karthi in the lead. He welcomed Aditi Shankar, daughter of acclaimed director S. Shankar, as the leading lady of the film. ‘Viruman’ will mark the film debut of the young, aspiring actress. Suriya made the announcement on his official social media handle, along with the first glimpse of the film. The latest news is that the makers have sealed the OTT and Satellite deal, way ahead of the film’s release next year.
‘Viruman’ is jointly produced by Suriya and wife Jyotika, under their production banner, 2D Entertainment, in association with producer Rajsekar Pandian. The film will be helmed by director Muthaiya, who has previously worked with Karthi on ‘Komban’. The OTT platform locked for the film is Disney Plus Hotstar, whereas the satellite rights of the film have been acquired by Vijay TV, both for a fancy, undisclosed price. Although an official announcement has not yet been made by the makers, one is expected soon.
Actor Karthi, who has completed the shoot of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, recently began shooting for ‘Viruman’ earlier this week. He was seen in a rustic look for the action-drama ‘Komban’ and has been sporting a similar look on the sets of ‘Viruman’ lately. Also starring Prakash Raj, Raj Kiran and Soori, ‘Viruman’ will feature music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and is expected to release sometime in the summer of 2022.
