Suriya Sivakumar has begun shooting for his next untitled big screen film helmed by Siruthai Siva. Known as ‘Suriya 42’ as of now, the film will be Suriya’s third film, after ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’, in lead role that will be released in theatres post lockdown. Suriya is also currently working on director Bala’s ‘Vanangaan’.
‘Suriya 42’ has high expectations given the coming together of talent powerhouses like Suriya, director Siva and music composer Devi Sri Prasad. Moreover, the ‘Soorarai Pottru’ fame is on a success spree right now whether it’s his theatrical or digital ventures in the recent past.
Not only was Suriya’s last lead role theatrical release ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ a box office hit, even the films he gave a guest appearance in this year were immensely successful. He was recently seen doing cameo roles in films like Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ and R. Madhavan’s ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ which were both highly appreciated. In fact Suriya received huge praise for his short role in ‘Vikram’.
While Suriya is a senior well known actor in the Tamil film industry, he rose to next level national fame with his blockbuster digital lockdown releases like ‘Soorarai Pottru’ and ‘Jai Bhim’. So much so that he even went on to win the Best Actor award at the 68th National Film Award for ‘Soorarai Pottru’. The success of the film was such that it is now being remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar in the lead.
Coming back to ‘Suriya 42’, Suriya announced the commencing of the film’s shoot with a picture with director Siva and music director DSP. He also seeked blessings from all. The film marks the first collaboration between director Siva and Suriya.
While there is no official word yet, reports suggest that Disha Patani will be making her Tamil debut alongside Suriya with Suriya 42. Said to be big budget film and written by Siva and Adi Narayana, ‘Suriya 42’ is bankrolled by UV Creations and Studio Green.
