Amazon Prime Video has dropped the trailer for Suriya’s upcoming Tamil film ’Jai Bhim’ and it couldn’t have gotten more powerful than this. Based on real incident and helmed by Tha. Se. Gnanavel, ‘Jai Bhim’ will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video this Diwali on 2nd November, 2021.
The trailer begins with Chandru (Suriya), a lawyer, leading a protest outside court for getting justice. For him law is a very powerful weapon and what’s important is who is protected using it.
The next frame takes us in the year 1995 and into the tribal areas where certain tribes live without the basic requirements that a democracy’s citizen should have. No land, no ration card, no names on voter list and more. Even after so many years of independence they still live like primitives and hunt to survive with no proof of residence.
And that’s not it, the atrocities of the local police is even scarier. Filing wrong and multiple charges against illiterate and uninformed tribal people and then beating them up barbarically in order to make them confess for the crimes they did not commit is a common phenomenon of social injustice and divide.
No one took consideration of their fundamental rights until it all happens with a hardworking tribal couple, Senggeni and Rajakannu. Their world come crashing when Rajakannu gets arrested on false charges and later goes missing from police custody. Senggeni then approaches Chandru for legal help who then fights for their justice. In the process he discovers it be something much bigger than just social or caste based discrimination and this takes upon himself to unearth the truth and fifth all odds to get justice for the tribal woman.
‘Jai Bhim’ is a compelling, thought provoking story that is intriguing, gritty and hard-hitting. The theme and message of the court room drama also comes across powerfully and clearly with Suriya shining brilliantly in the trailer.
Written and directed by Tha. Se. Gnanavel, ‘Jai Bhim’ stars Suriya, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Rajisha Vijayan, Manikandan and Lijo mol Jose in prominent roles. The film has been produced by Jyotika and Suriya under the banner of 2D Entertainment and co-produced by Rajsekar Karpoorsundarapandian. Jai Bhim has music by Sean Rolden. The team behind this film also includes DOP SR Kadhir, Editor Philominraj, and Art Director Kadhir.
‘Jai Bhim’ will premiere only on Amazon Prime Video on 2nd November, 2021 in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.
