Netflix has dropped the teaser and also revealed the release date of its upcoming Hindi comedy-drama film ‘Pagglait’ which literally refers to a mad or a crazy person and the teaser justifies it quite well. ‘Pagglait‘ is all set to premiere only on Netflix on 26th March, 2021.
The teaser features Sandhya (Sanya Malhotra) lying on a bed and reading condolence comments/messages on social media about her husband Astik’s death. But the interesting part is that she feels nothing about it, not even an iota of sadness. On the other hand his brother-in-law is seen getting his head shaved, as is the ritual after the death of a close relative.
While asked about not feeling the loss of his husband, Sandhya tells the story of when she lost her cat, cried a lot and didn’t eat for three days. But now she feels nothing and in fact she feels hungry all the time.
The teaser looks pretty interesting, given the story is not just funny but has a deep message embedded in it. Its more like a satire on the prevelant societal norms where one marries for the sake of it and not for love. Also, how women are made to live in an invisible cage and suppress their real desires and wishes in order to satisfy what the society demands from them.
Written and directed by Umesh Bist, ‘Pagglait’ chronicles the journey of Sandhya (Sanya Malhotra), a young widow as she learns how to free her crazy, face the family and find herself. The untimely death of her husband Astik, just five months after their wedding, leads to a slew of revelations that forces her to re-examine her priorities and make some hard decisions.

The film stars an ensemble cast, including Sanya Malhotra, Ashutosh Rana, Sheeba Chaddha, Raghubir Yadav, Natasha Rastogi, Rajesh Tailang, Shruti Sharma, Jameel Khan, Meghna Malik, Ananya Khare, Yamini Singh, Bhupesh Pandya, Chetan Sharma, Aasif Khan, Nakul Roshan Sahdev, Ashlesha Thakur, Sachin Chaudhary and Saroj Singh. It will have special appearance by Sayani Gupta and Sharib Hashmi as well.
‘Pagglait’ on Netflix has been produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga and Achin Jain. The funny yet heartwarming story is a Sikhya Entertainment Production, presented by Balaji Telefilms. Nachiket Pantvaidya is the co-producer while Ruchikaa Kapoor is the creative producer for the film.
‘Pagglait’ is a surprise drop by Netflix that will release on the streaming giant on 26th March, 2021.
