SVF Films’ Upcoming Theatrical Line-Up: 5 Unique Films To Watch Out For

2021 is turning out to be an extremely fruitful and interesting year for Bengali OTT platform Hoichoi and SVF Films, the biggest film production house in Bengal. Beginning with Moh Maya 2, Maradonar Juto, Paap and Mohanagar, the platform has already aimed to stack up their roster for the new campaign #NotunGolpoHoyejak which literally means ‘Let’s have some new stories’ and believe me when I say that their roster for the same looking extremely promising. But now, as they are partnering with SVF Films who has just shared the upcoming theatrical line up for next few months, it looks like a mouthwatering deal for the Bengali movie goers who are eagerly waiting for the theatres to open up.

Couple of days ago, SVF Films tweeted the theatrical release date for five upcoming films and we just can’t wait to share the same with you folks. So, here goes the list:

Mukhosh:

Mukhosh - SVF

Mukhosh is a typical Birsa Dasgupta psychological thriller where the central character would be ‘death’ and Dasgupta has already confirmed that this unique film will not have any single song or music but only the background score. The film was previously titled ‘Psycho’ but now it has been changed into ‘Mukhosh’. This thriller will feature Anirban Bhattacharya, Anirban Chakraborti, Chandreyee Ghosh and Payel Deyand it will be the second collaboration of Anirban and Birsa after Bibaho Obhijaan. Now, SVF Films confirmed that Mukhosh will release theatrically on 13th August 2021.

Golondaaj:

Golondaaj

Next up is Dev’s extremely talked-about sports biopic Golondaaj. The story revolves around colonial India of 1879, under British subordination, where a group of men led by Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari, portrayed by Dev, takes on a British football team. The story is based upon the socio-cultural situation of Bengal of the 19th century when revolutionaries were going toe to toe with British Raj. Apart from Dev, Golondaaj will feature Alexx O’Neill as the main antagonist, Anirban Bhattacharya, Ishaa Saha, Indrasish Roy, Srikanta Acharya and John Bhattacharya. This film is directed by Dhrubo Banerjee, who earlier gained fame from directing Durgeshgorer Guptodhan featuring Abir Chatterjee. Golondaaj will be releasing theatrically on 10th October 2021 as confirmed by SVF Films.

Ekannoborti:

Ekannoborti:

Mainak Bhaumik’s Ekannoborti will be a film that celebrates the joint family at a time when people are scattered all over the place. Just like Cheeni, the last film of Bhaumik, he will again collaborate with Aparajita Adhya. The film will also feature Sauraseni Maitra, Alokananda Roy, Ananya Sen among others. Co-incidentally this will be Bhaumik and Adhya’s third collaboration after Cheeni and Generation Ami. Generation Ami also featured Sauraseni Maitra. This family oriented film will be the next go live theatrically and the release date will be 3rd November 2021.

Kakababur Protyaborton:

Kakababur Protyaborton

Based on a Bengali adventure novel by Sunil Gangopadhyay, Jongoler Modhye Ek Hotel, Kakababu and Santu will be returning with Srijit Mukherji for their third adventure together. This time Kakababu’s destination will be Nairobi, Kenya where two German tourists mysteriously disappeared from a hotel near Maasai Mara forest. Prosenjit Chatterjee and Aryann Bhowmik will as usual reprise their roles of Kakababu and Santu alongwith Anirban Chakrabarti and Alonso Grandio. This Srijit Mukherji adventure will set foot in the theatres on Christmas week i.e. 24th December 2021.

X=Prem:

X=Prem

The second Srijit Mukherji venture in the list and the final one is the SVF Films roster, X=Prem would be a story of a couple, who go through various challenges in their life resulting from an unexpected turn of events but eventually they overcome the challenges through scientific methods. This is an extremely unique plot combining love with science and it sounds like something which has never been tried in Indian cinema. The film will feature debutants Anindya Sengupta and Shruti Das along with Arjun Chakraborty and Madhurima Basak who will be seen to work with Srijit Mukherji for the first time in association with SVF Films. We have learnt that the shooting of the film will start from 2nd July 2021 and it will go live theatrically on 4th February 2022.

A hell of a list packed with intriguing stories waiting to be told,we bet you are going restless to watch these titles. Just have patience because good things come to those who wait.
