Finally, the shooting for ‘Dawshom Awbotar’ has commenced. It is definitely one of the most anticipated Bengali films of this year and fans have been waiting for this crossover for a long time.
This is the first time SVF is collaborating with JioStudios for a film. But apart from Dawshom Awbotar, one more project commenced its shooting today. There will be an adaptation of the much loved story by Rabindranath Tagore, ‘Kabuliwala’.
Kabuliwala has been adapted to celluloid many times, the first time being with the legendary filmmaker Tapan Sinha directing Chhabi Biswas. Kabuliwala tells the story of an Afghan money-lender who comes to Kolkata leaving his little daughter behind. And he befriends a little girl called Mini who reminds him of her daughter. It has been adapted in Hindi with Danny Denzongpa. SVF’s ‘Kabuliwala’ will be directed by Suman Ghosh and most probably it will star Mithun Chakroborty in the lead role. After 66 years of Tapan Sinha’s internationally acclaimed Kabuliwala, the same story is being adapted by Suman Ghosh and it is a matter of huge excitement for Bengalis.
It is a great day as two big scale productions have commenced their shooting. Dawshom Awbotar will have a Puja release and the release dates of Kabuliwala will be revealed later on.
Dawshom Awbotar will be the crossover between two blockbuster thrillers directed by Srijit Mukherjee. ‘Vinci Da’ , which recently had a Telugu remake, and ‘Baishe Srabon’, which turned the tables for Bengali cinema, both movies tell the stories of eccentric police officers and intelligent serial killers. The crossover will serve as a prequel to both movies.
