2024 seems to be Sydney Sweeney’s year. The fan-favorite American actress has barely left the headlines these past few months with anticipated release-after-release of titles like ‘Anyone But You’, ‘Immaculate’, ‘Madame Web’, and more.
While the star has projects like the real-life-inspired thriller ‘Eden’, ‘Echo Valley’, a second thriller, U.S. boxer Christy Martin’s biopic, and more upcoming, the most talked about recently has been ‘Barbarella’. A rendition of the classic 1968 comedic sci-fi venture that starred Jane Fonda in the titular role, few details are known about the new film otherwise.
It was made official that Sweeney will be starring as the charming 41st-century astronaut, on a quest to stop the evil scientist Durand-Durand and his threats to the galaxy, back in October 2022. While no other cast members have been declared, director Edgar Wright, renowned for his fast-paced satirical features like ‘Baby Driver’ and ‘Scott Pilgrim v/s The World’ is in talks to direct.
While nothing has been announced yet, Wright’s breezy yet explosive storytelling methods seem to be the perfect companion to the comedic demands of the plot. Wright is also famous for utilizing expressive popular music in his projects. And as we all know what goes better with superheroes saving our collapsing universe than a kickass background score?
