Talking about the recent rise of horror again, it’s definitely a time where “low-budget” films are finding their voices. Especially for such films, the theatrical experience matters, but a film like Immaculate will always be slapped with limited theatrical exposure.
Regarding the fan reception of the film, Immaculate stands at 6.3 on IMDb and 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is quite a standard rating for horror films. As for its box office run, with a small budget of $9M, the film grossed $21M, which is definitely a good number considering the limited marketing.
But now, it’s available for streaming on the VOD space.
It will be available on regular platforms such as Google, Apple, or Amazon’s digital space. The buying price tag is $19.99, and it’s $9.99 for renting.
As for Indian fans, they have to wait as there’s not much update about the VOD release of the horror film. But if it comes to Indian platforms, they must capitalize on Sydney Sweeney’s popularity.
Talking about the plot, Sister Mary’s attempt to flee the convent by stealing keys results in her being buried alive after a confrontation with hooded figures. Meanwhile, Sister Cecilia, whose faith was sparked by a near-death experience, embraces nunhood in Italy.
Despite her virginity, she discovers she’s pregnant, triggering a series of bizarre events orchestrated by Father Tedeschi, including jealousy-driven attacks and a sinister experiment using genetic material from a Holy Nail relic.
Cecilia’s gradual realization of the convent’s dark agenda culminates in a violent struggle for survival, ultimately leading her to confront and destroy the abomination born of Tedeschi’s twisted ambition.
Will it be a great watch?
See, if it comes to India, you can give it a watch if horror is your jam. The visuals are great, but it’s paired with a choppy plot. But if horror isn’t your thing, there’s no need to go out of your way.
