Much-awaited Tamil film ‘Mahaan‘ is gearing up to skip theatres and take the direct to digital release route. The film is touted to be an action thriller film that will bring real-life father and son duo, Chiyaan Vikram and Dhruv Vikram, together on screen for the first time ever. The intriguing posters and character introduction videos of Mahaan have amped up fans’ excitement for the film.
There’s been huge interest, and a lot of speculation regarding the release of Mahaan. Film enthusiasts have been waiting eagerly for information on the release of Mahaan – whether it will release in theatres or directly on OTT. OTT giant Prime Video has bagged the direct to digital streaming rights for Mahaan. As per our calculations, Mahaan will release on Prime Video on 26th January, 2022, as a Republic Day offering.
Mahaan has been written and directed by Tamil filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, and produced by Lalit Kumar under the banner of Seven Screen Studio. The film was labelled ‘Chiyaan 60’ when it was first announced, as it is the 60th film of its lead star Vikram, aka Chiyaan Vikram. Santhosh Narayanan has scored the music of Mahaan. It is reportedly a gangster and crime drama.
In recent times, Karthik Subbaraj has taken to the world of OTT entertainment like a fish takes to water. His films ‘Jagame Thandhiram’, ‘Penguin’, ‘Boomika’ among others, have released on OTT. Besides these, he’s directed segments in OTT anthologies, Navarasa and Putham Pudhu Kaalai. Mahaan is Karthik Subbaraj’s next film to release on a digital platform.
