Arun Vijay‘s latest Tamil film ‘Yaanai’ is an action-packed family entertainer that has done decent business at the box office. The film has been appreciated for its plot and performances of the cast. Yaanai released in theatres on 1st July, 2022, and is still drawing in audiences, more than four weeks after release.
However, as is the recent trend in the Indian film entertainment world, most films have predetermined deals with streaming platforms, due to which they must release on streaming as decided earlier. Most films these days have a theatrical window of four weeks, after which they arrive on OTT. It is no different with ‘Yaanai’. The film has already had a splendid run of five weeks in the theatres, and now its time for Yaanai to release on streaming.
Homegrown streaming giant ZEE5 holds the post-theatrical streaming rights for ‘Yaanai‘. The Tamil film will therefore arrive on streaming only on ZEE5, more specifically on ZEE5 Tamil, the Tamil streaming arm of ZEE5.
Though ZEE5 has not revealed the Yaanai OTT release date yet, our sources tell us that Yaanai’s streaming date will most likely be August 12 on ZEE5. The week sees an extended holiday period then, starting from August 11, which is Raksha Bandhan/Nariyal Poornima, and going up to Monday, August 15, which is Independence Day. It is thus the best time for OTT platforms to release their most-awaited, big ticket films on streaming.
Every OTT platform has lined up a buzzy film for release in the extended Independence Day weekend. August 12 is hence the ideal time to premiere ‘Yaanai’ on ZEE5.
Yaanai centres on a family drama, a powerful patriarch, his four sons, and their complicated relationships. Arun Vijay plays Ravi, the youngest son of the family. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays his love interest. Ramachandra Raju plays the primary antagonist in Yaanai. Samuthirakani, Rajesh, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Aishwarya, Ammu Abhirami, Yogi Babu, V. I. S. Jayapalan, Bose Venkat, Sanjeev Venkat and Pugazh make up the rest of the cast.
Yaanai is written and directed by Hari, and produced by Vedikkaranpatti S. Sakthivel of Drumsticks Productions. G. V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music of the film.
