Akshara Haasan‘s latest Tamil feature film “Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu’s” (The Myth Of The Good Girl) official teaser came in today wherein the actress will be essaying the role of a young girl Pavithra. The film has been written and directed by Zee5’s “America Mappillai” fame Raja Ramamurthy.
In the teaser video, Akshara is sitting still, holding a cup of beverage looking immersed in deep thought, as if trying to decide on something, with voices echoing in the background. While some say yes and question that what’s stopping her, the others say no, with a whole lot of dilemma going on.
One voice condemns her for being a sinner, the other says they are ashamed of her. There are questions raised about what will her parents think, that the society would shun her. The ultimate question being “what was Pavithra going to do about it?”
Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu is “a coming-of-age dramedy about quintessential good Tamil girl”. Director Rajamurthy said in a press statement, “The story revolves around a girl from a conservative family who is in that awkward stage between being a curious teenager and a smart woman.”
The starcast for ‘Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu’ include Akshara Haasan, Usha Uthup, Malgudi Subha, Anjana Jayaprakash, Shalini Vijayakumar, Janaki Sabesh, Kalairani, Siddhartha Shankar, Suresh Menon, George Maryan and Kiran Keshav.
The film has been made keeping in mind the women centric theme with not just in the sense of story but also the crew of the film, as most of them are female, in an attempt to capture the essence of ‘female gaze’.
Trend Loud, the production company behind ‘Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu‘ has produced more than 15 web series for top OTT platforms. Though the film hasn’t been picked up by any streaming service yet, but with the teaser out, and receiving great response from social media users, it will certainly be snapped up soon enough by an OTT.
