Tollywood Hero Raj Tharun’s recent film, Orey Bujjiga skipped its theatrical release and streamed on Regional Telugu Exclusive OTT Platform, Aha Video in October. The movie has got okay talk and reviews but got a good number of views on Aha Video for its entertainment quotient.
With the theaters opening in both the Telugu States, the makers are now gearing up for the theatrical release on January 1st, 2021 as New Year Special. It will be the first release in Telugu in 2021. It is a good idea to release the exclusive Online releases once again in theaters at least until Summer 2021.
However, it is not as easy as it appears. Firstly, such agreements have to be made with the OTT platforms, and also, the Multiplex chains should be convinced to change their stance of not screening Direct OTT Releases. Orey Bujjiga is more of a film made for the masses and even a release in the Single Screen Theaters should be okay.
Another small film, Colour Photo which is also with Aha Video may work in the theaters if planned. Nani and Sudheer Babu’s V ended up as a flop in the OTT scape but the popularity of Nani can bring the audience to theaters.
