Telangana Government has allowed the Re-opening of the film theaters and the relevant Government Order is also out. The Multiplex Chains are going to re-open from December 4th and the bookings were also open. Similar orders were already given by the Andhra Pradesh Government.
With regular releases going to be lined up from Christmas, the next few weeks will be a trial run to bring the audience to theaters. Hollywood Biggie, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet will be the first new release in theaters.
The rest of the theaters are screening the good films released before the Lockdown. While we look at the screening list of Hyderabad Multiplexes, the Multiplex Chains have totally avoided screening the films released directly on OTT.
The OTT Platforms reportedly did not allow the theatrical screenings of their exclusive films while the Multiplex Chains are also not ready to screen such films as they feel the OTT space is encroaching their business. It has to be seen how the Single Screen Theaters will react when they open. OTT is here to stay and should co-exist with the theatrical business in the coming days. It has to be seen if both sides will find a common ground and flourish together.
