Telugu film ‘The Family Star’ hit theatres on 5th April, 2024. The Vijay Deverakonda starrer received mostly negative reviews from both critics and audiences. Most people panned the writing and direction of the film, along with the weak plot and outdated humour. They even criticised the performances of the lead actors in The Family Star, Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur.
Along with poor reviews, The Family Star also failed to set the cash registers ringing at ticket windows. It proved to be a flop at the box office. Vijay Deverakonda has now given three back to back flops – Liger, Kushi and the most recent, The Family Star.
Shockingly, the makers of The Family Star are all set to cut short the standard 4-week theatrical run of the film, and release the film on streaming in just three weeks after its theatrical release. The Family Star premieres on Prime Video India this Friday, 26th April, 2024, barely 21 days after its release in theatres.
The Family Star follows a young man, Govardhan, for whom family is everything. The ambitious young man falls in love with a rich woman, but his ego and trust issues threaten to disrupt his love life before it even begins.
Besides Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur, The Family Star features Ajay Ghosh, Divyansha Kaushik, Jagapathi Babu, Rohini Hattangady, Vennela Kishore, Ravi Prakash, VTV Ganesh, Abhinaya, among others, in pivotal roles.
The movie is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish of Sri Venkateswara Creations. It is written and directed by Parashuram.
