Allu Arjun‘s recent theatrical outing Pushpa: The Rise premiered on Amazon Prime Video the other day. The Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions of Pushpa can be streamed on Amazon Prime now. The film garnered great buzz ahead of its OTT outing. Social media was abuzz about the OTT release of Pushpa and it can be understood that the film opened to good viewership on the day of its OTT premieres.
But on the other hand, Varudu Kaavalenu and Lakshya, which also premiered on OTT the other day could not even catch the attention of the OTT audience. While Varudu Kaavalenu premiered on ZEE5, Lakshya premiered on Aha Video. Barring a few customary social media posts, there wasn’t much of a promotional campaign to publicize the arrival of these films on respective OTT platforms.
Not many Telugu OTT audience even know that Varudu Kaavalenu and Lakshya premiered on OTT the other day. A more proactive promotional plan could have worked the trick for these two films.
Next in line for OTT release from Tollywood is Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda. The film will be made available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from the 21st of January. We can expect this film to create some fireworks ahead of its OTT release.
