The highly anticipated horror flick ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ had started streaming on Netflix India OTT platform yesterday, that is 18th February. Owing to the parent film’s cult following, the much-hyped sequel had been generating immense pre-release buzz. Now that the film is out for streaming on Netflix, has it lived up to the sky-high expectations of franchise/genre fans and critics alike? Let’s find out.
As per prominent reviews aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ currently sits at a surprisingly low Tomatometer score of merely 32% based on 76 reviews. However, the audience score is a bit higher at 45% based on more than 250 user ratings. The critics’ consensus says, ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre doesn’t skimp on the gore, but Leatherface may have irrevocably lost his ability to terrify’.
Similarly, the user rating for ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ does not seem to impress IMDb users as well. Because the film currently holds a score of 5.3/10 based on around 5800 user ratings on the globally renowned entertainment portal IMDb. However, interestingly, around 31% of the users have also given the film a decent rating of 7/10 and above. This statistic suggests somewhat mixed user feedback.
Moreover, reputed Indian publications like Indian Express and Times of India had given the film 1/5 and 2/5 ratings, respectively. And one could observe mixed feedback for the movie as per the latest Twitter posts from several regions including India. Check out the below Twitter posts to see how viewers are responding to the sequel.
The new #TexasChainsawMassacre on #Netflix is the worst piece of trash ever. No plot no story line just straight blood and guts so stupid. Don't waste your time on this embarrassing movie.

‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ is a sequel to the immensely popular 1974 slasher film ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’. The plot revolves around a business trip of a group of aspiring entrepreneurs which becomes their worst nightmare when they cross paths with the dreaded serial killer Leatherface. The presence of the infamous 1973 massacre’s sole survivor also comes into play as a plot device.
